  Wie einige von euch sich vielleicht erinnern, handelte der allererste Eintrag, den ich in diesem Blog veröffentlichte, von dem Priester und Märtyrer Héctor Gallego, den ich als eines meiner wichtigsten Vorbilder bezeichnete. Dieses Mal komme ich mit einer weiteren prominenten lateinamerikanischen katholischen Persönlichkeit, die auch dafür bekannt war, an der Seite der Armen und Ausgegrenzten zu stehen, am 42. Jahrestag seines Todes. Wie der Titel bereits verrät, handelt es sich um den heiligen Óscar Romero, Erzbischof von San Salvador, der Hauptstadt von El Salvador, bekannt für seine Predigten zur Verteidigung von sozialer Gerechtigkeit und Frieden im Kontext des salvadorianischen Bürgerkriegs. Óscar Arnulfo Romero y Galdames wurde am 15. August 1917 in Ciudad Barrios im Departement San Miguel im Osten von El Salvador geboren.
